Pastor's Notes

The miracles Jesus performed during his public ministry were not feats of magic.  They were significant events because they were signs of his God-given power to heal.  The miracles of Jesus were also a living, loving, and tangible sign that the Kingdom of God had finally arrived on earth.  Jesus shows his loving concern in today’s Gospel by healing Simon’s mother-in-law, who was ill...

Spiritual Life:

The Spiritual Life Committee plans and provides for the spiritual development of each member of the parish though liturgical celebrations, prayer experiences, and spiritual growth programs.  This committee provides for the development of ecumenical activities.  It works to provide a parish climate in which young people, especially, can conscientiously choose the particular way in which they will serve their Christian vocation.  We provide programs for small study and prayer groups and provide enrichment opportunities for the parish such as Parish Missions and Adoration.  Those interested in joining the committee can contact Ruth Taylor at 423-587-0571 or call the St. Patrick Church office at 423-586-9174.

EUCHARISTIC MINISTER TRAINING:  St. Patrick Church will be holding a training class for those interested in serving as Eucharistic Ministers.  Since there is a shortage of Eucharistic Ministers at the Saturday 5pm Mass or the Sunday 11:30am Mass, we would like to encourage those who attend those Masses to join us in this ministry.  The class will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2010 at 7:00pm in the Church.  Please contact Andy Vrba at 423-581-1152 for additional information.

MADONNA GIFT SHOP & CHURCH LIBRARY:  The Madonna Gift Shop & Church Library has been organized and is ready for you!  We have a large number of books for spiritual reading as well as books about our Faith and self-help books.  If you want to know more about a certain saint, there are many books on the lives of the saints.  We also have a selection of videos, both for children and families.  The gift shop features statues, rosaries and crucifixes.  Gifts for Confirmation and First Communion and greetings cards are also available.  Items are very reasonably priced … there are also FREE items.  We are now open on Wednesdays during Adoration hours, 12:30-6:30pm, plus before and after all weekend Masses.  Come check us out – we are next to the Sacristy in the Narthex.  Donations of books are always welcome.
